Mid-December saw a major milestone for the COMMANDbatch technology, a successor to three plant automation platforms brought under a single umbrella through the 1998 and 2000 mergers of Auto•Control and Alkon Corp., and Command Data Inc. and Alkon.
“It’s hard to believe we just shipped our 5,000th COMMANDbatch system,” says Command Alkon Vice President of Product Development Mark Merino, crediting a Boral Australia plant with the milestone installation. “When we started the effort 11 years ago to replace three esteemed batch products with a next-generation offering, I don’t think any of us thought it would become as successful as it turned out.”
He attributes the CMDbatch success to sales, implementation, support, engineering, and manufacturing groups’ hard work, adding that Command Alkon will continue to evolve the software and hardware platforms that drive the next 5,000 system installations.
