Argos, Cemex lead NRMCA Quality Awards

NRMCA is honoring 14 members in its 2011 Quality Awards competition. Following NRMCA Research Engineering and Standards Committee criteria, producers enter as a single entity or division within a company, submitting applications and validation of claims. Those scoring 75 percent or higher are recognized in the competition. The association will present awards across three categories at a September 26 luncheon during the ConcreteWorks Conference & Expo in San Diego:

  • Category A (1 million-yd.-plus annual production): Argos USA, SE Zone, Raleigh, N.C., and three South Central Zone areas, Houston, Dallas-Ft. Worth, and Little Rock, Ark.; Cemex Florida and West-South Area Regions, West Palm Beach and Gilbert, Ariz.; Lafarge North America, U.S. Business Unit, Denver; GCC America, U.S. Ready Mix & Aggregates, Denver; Cemstone Products Co., Mendota Heights, Minn.; Irving Materials Inc., Nashville, Tenn., and Louisville, Ky.; and, Staker Parson Cos., Ogden, Utah.
  • Category B (250,000–1 million yd.): Aggregate Industries Midwest Region, Des Plaines, Ill.; Cemex Atlantic Region, Charlotte, N.C., and Northern California Region, El Dorado Hills; Chandler Concrete Co., Burlington, N.C.; Concrete Supply Co., Charlotte, N.C.; Preferred Materials, Inc. (Oldcastle Southern), Bonita Springs, Fla.; Tarmac America LLC, West Coast and North Central Regions, Venice and Port Orange, Fla.; and, Jenna Concrete Corp., Bronx, N.Y.
  • Category C (< 250,000 cubic yards): Central Pre-Mix Concrete Co., Oldcastle Materials Northwest Division, Spokane, Wash.
