NRMCA has named 11 producer-member plants in the 2011 Commitment to Environmental Excellence Awards program, recognizing U.S. and Canadian operators for outstanding contributions to protecting the environment and maintaining sound environmental management practices. This year’s Environmental Excellence Awards winners, by category (annual volume), are:
• Category A (> 25,000 yd./year) Transit Mix Concrete and Materials Co., Seven Points, Texas, 1st Place; Concrete Supply Co., Gastonia and Winston Salem, N.C., 2nd Place and Honorable Mention, respectively;
and, Essroc, Strasburg, Va., Honorable Mention.
• Category B (25,000–50,000 yd./year) Dolese Bros. Co., Piedmont, Okla., 1st Place; Transit Mix Concrete and Materials, Mabank, Texas, 2nd Place; and, Essroc, Stephenson, Va., Honorable Mention.
• Category C (50,000–100,000 yd./year) Dolese Bros., Moore, Okla., 1st Place; Nebco, Inc., Lincoln, Neb., 2nd Place; and, Cemstone Products, Dayton, Minn., Honorable Mention.
• Category D (100,000–200,000 yd./year) Lafarge Canada Inc., Vancouver, B.C., Canada, 1st Place.
“These plants have demonstrated that they are the ‘best of the best’ when it comes to being good stewards of the environment,” said Gary Mullings, NRMCA’s Senior Vice President of Operations and Compliance.
