A Chicago couple received a surprise backyard makeover featuring CalStar pavers from DIY Network’s “Yard Crashers” team, led by licensed landscape contractor Ahmed Hassan. The premise of the show is that Hassan approaches someone at a home improvement store and offers an experienced contractor and team to help them redesign their yard.
With deep Mexican roots, the homeowners desired a place to entertain their large family that reflected their culture’s sense of fun and family. The “Yard Crashers” team used CalStar brown, light red and tangerine tumbled Holland Pavers for the 900-sq.-ft. project. Furthermore, Karen Righthand, director of marketing for CalStar Products, noted that “the pavers for this project were responsible for recycling over four tons of industrial byproduct.” The CalStar pavers used for the patio generated fewer C02 emissions than traditional concrete pavers, and were produced at the company’s Racine, Wis., flagship plant.
In addition to the distinctive paver rug, the project included a new pergola, raised vegetable beds, a new deck and fencing. Airing July 8, the “Mexican Party Backyard” episode was part of sixth season of the popular series.
