“Transportation and mobile equipment safety” is the theme of Lafarge NA’s 2011 Health & Safety Month, with events across concrete, aggregate and cement businesses focused on vehicular safety. Throughout June, Lafarge Group plants around the world will acknowledge their health and safety achievements and build program awareness through demonstrations, access to on-site health and wellness professionals, and community events that promote health and safety beyond the workplace.
“Health & Safety is [our] top priority, and we are proud of our outstanding record in that area,” says Lafarge Medical Director for the Americas Dr. Craig Friedmann. “This annual event reinforces our commitment to employees and contractors, as well as to their families and to the local communities where we operate.”
Eight of the 18 Lafarge NA business units are in the Lafarge Group Health & Safety Excellence Club, honoring profit centers worldwide that maintain a total injury frequency rate of less than 10, and a lost time injury frequency rate of less than one for every million man-hours worked.
