A proposed integration of Tekla Building Information Modeling technology with Trimble construction estimating, project management and BIM-to-field platforms will afford contractors a compelling set of productivity solutions and dedicated workflows. Trimble Navigation reports that its subsidiary, Trimble Finland Oy, will effect a May 19–June 17 tender offer for the outstanding shares of Tekla Corp., based in Finland with North American headquarters in Atlanta. The transaction is valued at about $450 million.
BIM is becoming a strategic element in customers’ ability to integrate data throughout a project lifecycle, while eliminating costs through better accuracy and interoperability, notes Trimble CEO Steve Berglund, adding, “Tekla and Trimble’s combined solutions will enable us to provide the broadest and most sophisticated BIM capability available.”
The world’s construction, engineering, and architectural communities are rapidly adopting BIM to produce, communicate and analyze building models, he adds. Trimble’s “BIM to field” vision extends office data to field level systems for precise delivery of design and construction elements.
