LoJac Materials has secured market leadership in concrete masonry after closing on a deal for Dickson, Tenn.-based Brown’s Concrete & Block. The acquisition nets the buyer block production and distribution throughout middle Tennessee, with plant and sales locations in Cookeville, Lebanon, Dickson, plus sales offices in Murfreesboro and Franklin. The concrete masonry business operates alongside heavy highway construction, and brick, sand and asphalt production units.
“The Brown’s organization fits well with the service area of LoJac’s footprint and will extend our business west as far as Jackson, Tenn., and the surrounding area,” says LoJac Holdings CEO Jack Lowery.
Adds longtime Brown’s Concrete principal Jimmy Brown, “We were pleased to have a company with the reputation of LoJac Materials acquire our company because we know they are going to retain many of our valuable employees and serve our great customers in the same manner in which we served them.” A second-generation operator, he joined in 1957 the business his parents, Ruth and J.C. Brown Jr., founded seven years prior. He and his brother Sammy purchased the business in 1978, growing its concrete masonry offerings while adding architectural stone product distribution.
