NPCA, American Concrete Pipe Association and 2011 Precast Show contributors have mapped an agenda of training, certification, networking and related events alongside or leading up to the January 27–29 trade exhibit at the Charlotte Convention Center. Among highlights are concurrent plant tours on the morning of January 27, hosted by Dellinger Precast Inc. and Oldcastle Precast Inc., with bus service from the convention center.
Gary Dellinger and family members will present their Denver, N.C., precast operation—a 40,000 sq. ft. facility on 35 acres. Dellinger Precast specializes in drainage structures, vaults and custom products—a 10- x 15-ft. doghouse among the most recent examples.
Oldcastle Precast General Manager Kevin Blackwell and staff will guide visitors through the 15-year old Concord, N.C., operation—a 32,500 sq. ft. facility on eight acres. The plant specializes in vaults, drainage products, box culverts, and three-sided bridge structures. Unusual contracts Oldcastle Precast/Concord has recently tackled include a 530-ft. Duke Energy coal-handling tunnel consisting of a split box culvert structure, with 18-in. walls and 30-in. roof.
