Denver-based Mining Media Inc. has acquired Concrete Products, Rock Products, and Cement Americas from Penton Media, along with their websites and Concrete Currents, Breaking Rock News and Cement Newsline electronic newsletters. The transaction reunites the three construction-materials titles with Mining Media’s Coal Age (monthly) and Engineering & Mining Journal (10 times/year). The five magazines comprised what owners from 1988–2003 had branded the Mining & Construction Group, and have a combined North American and international market presence upward of 400 years.
Mining Media President Peter Johnson, who launched the business-to-business publishing, directory and event-management company after acquiring the mining titles in 2003, has indicated commitments for the Concrete, Rock, and Cement properties that readers and advertisers will see beginning with December editions. Concrete Products’ Don Marsh, Bill Green and David Pistello continue in their editorial and sales capacities.
