Summit Materials LLC has formed Harper-Kilgore LLC after closing on the assets of Salt Lake City-based Harper Cos., a ready mixed, aggregate and construction operator; and, Kilgore Paving and Maintenance LLC, an asphalt producer and pavement contractor. The Harper deal includes five concrete plants, served by an 85-mixer fleet, and three aggregate sites, one leasing land for Kilgore’s sole asphalt operation. Former principal Rulon Harper retains a precast concrete business specializing in drainage, utility, and decorative fencing products, plus mechanically stabilized earth systems.
Harper-Kilgore, operating with former principal Jason Kilgore at the helm, brings an Intermountain state presence paralleling Kansas and Kentucky platforms acquisition-minded Summit has created in just over a year of existence. We are very pleased to form our third regional platform in Salt Lake City, said Tom Hill, chief executive officer of Washington, D.C.-based Summit. During his long executive tenure at Oldcastle Materials Group, the state became a key profit center anchored by the 1995-96 acquisitions of Staker Paving & Construction Co., Salt Lake City, and Jack B. Parson Cos., Ogden Û now operating as Staker Parson Cos.
