Teamsters Local 25 announced picketing at an unspecified number of Aggregate Industries ready mixed plants across New England, citing contract negotiations in which the company seeks hours and benefit reductions, plus seniority-system changes. The negotiations follow what Local 25 notes is the implementation of a new contract covering employees of sister plants represented by Teamsters Local 170 in Worcester, Mass.

“For 40 years, the Teamsters have worked hard to make sure Aggregate Industries workers had a good contract, said Local 25 President Sean O’Brien. “We will not take these picket lines down until we are victorious.” Lines went up at 4:30 a.m. on August 17, he adds, and are being honored by International Union of Operating Engineers.
