A ribbon-cutting ceremony at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bern Township, Pa., saw the unveiling of Berks Products’ Pink Panther mixer truck. The producer thereby joins Chicago’s Prairie Material Sales and Pennsylvania neighbor Pennsy Supply in the pink mixer truck brigade.

Participating in a kickoff to the Pink Truck campaign were producer and medical center officials, plus cancer survivors. The initiative is a collaborative effort between Wyomissing, Pa.-based Berks Products and St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation to raise funds for community breast-cancer awareness and early-detection programs.

The Pink Panther will be manned by Bob Fidler, a 33-year Berks veteran who survives family members lost to cancer. When I was asked to drive a pink truck, knowing what it stands for, he explained, I didn’t have to think twice.

It’s important to us to give back to the community that has been so good to us through the years, noted Berks Products President and CEO John Hannon, a St. Joseph board member. Since our ready mix trucks cover a lot of ground in a day, painting our truck bright pink should help get a lot of attention to deliver an important message.
