A new, streamlined program enabling suppliers to create and publish BIM-ready building-product models in both McGraw-Hill Construction Sweets and Autodesk
A new, streamlined program enabling suppliers to create and publish BIM-ready building-product models in both McGraw-Hill Construction Sweets and Autodesk Seek has been announced by McGraw-Hill and Autodesk. As BIM [Building Information Modeling] becomes increasingly widespread throughout the construction industry Û more than half of building professionals now use BIM or BIM-related tools, i.e., 75 percent more than in 2007, according to McGraw-Hill’s 2009 Business Value of BIM Report Û today’s building product manufacturers (BPM) can compete only by incorporating BIM as part of their marketing programs, the construction industry partners emphasize.
The powerful combination of connected capabilities between McGraw-Hill Construction Sweets and Autodesk Seek delivers a unique opportunity for BPMs to participate in BIM and develop unparalleled, competitive marketing programs for their products, affirms McGraw-Hill Construction Senior Director Per Lofving.
Accordingly, McGraw-Hill and Autodesk have joined resources to offer BPMs assistance in creating complete and consistent branded Revit product models developed to standard BIM conventions; the models are then accessible through Sweets, Seek and within the Revit design application. The program thus offers marketplace reach and a significant competitive advantage, system developers assert, whether designers/builders go to Sweets, Seek or both for product selection and specification during the design stage and procurement and installation at the construction-start stage.
