Northumberland, Pa.-based Shumaker Industries recently announced a prototype Atlas Polar Front Discharge Mixveyor, the first concrete conveyor mounted on such a mixer model. Saving time and providing efficiencies for ready mixed producers, company engineers affirm, the conveyor’s front-mount design enables Mixveyor control and positioning from inside the cab for improved maneuverability and visibility. Moreover, the front-discharge configuration allows wide-ranging conveyor operation, pouring from up to 36 feet away in a 220-degree arc around the truck and up to 16 feet in elevation. A fully hydraulic swing and swivel mechanism ensures effective rotation for more precise concrete placement, the manufacturer adds.
Unveiled during a spring open house, the Mixveyor can be shifted easily around obstacles without moving the truck; and, a 13-ft. telescoping system and pivoting discharge hopper provide flexibility. Further enhancing versatility, Shumaker notes, Atlas Polar Radio Remote Controls Û included as a standard feature Û enable the operator to pour precisely from a safe distance via on/off remote controls operating on a 900-mHz spread spectrum technology radio system. Also standard is an in-cab, rapid-charging system (with rechargeable batteries) for the transmitter.
Among Mixveyor features that increase its life span and reduce maintenance requirements are a tungsten head pulley scraper for a cleaner belt; easily removable hoppers; and, a water-flushing system that reaches even hard-to-clean places. Additionally, the conveyor’s low stored profile results in less unit wear during transportation. Û www.shumakerindustries.com
