Ron Burg, a 27-year veteran of Skokie, Ill.-based CTLGroup, will join ACI July 6 as executive vice president, overseeing a 100-member staff. He will replace the retiring William Tolley.
An ACI Fellow and 26-year Institute member, Burg played an integral role in the advancement of high-strength concrete, high-performance concrete, and lightweight concrete, including managing multi-disciplinary research and consulting projects, designing and analyzing these specialty concretes, and developing technical seminars and training sessions. He has authored numerous published papers and publications dealing with the response of cementitious materials to elevated temperatures and harsh environmental conditions; the design, analysis, and production of high-strength concrete and lightweight concrete; thermal performance of various building materials; long-term, nonelastic behavior of concrete; and, heat development in high-strength concrete mixes.
Following engineering and quality assurance posts at Professional Services Inc. and the LaSalle (Ill.) Nuclear Power Plant, Burg joined CTLGroup in 1983, proceeding from research engineer, quality assurance coordinator, senior research engineer, manager of fire/thermal technology, director of materials technology, principal engineer and, most recently, to vice president.
