Oldcastle Precast Wins Two Harlem Housing Contracts

A precast floor and roofing system contract for of the Dempsey Apartments in Harlem, N.Y., was recently awarded to Oldcastle Precast Building Systems. The producer will supply 86,000-plus sq. ft. of precast hollowcore plank for the six-story building, which will house eligible tenants (not exceeding 60 percent of Area Median Income) in 80 affordable units within 78,000 sq. ft. of total living space. Oldcastle also will produce precast stairs and landings as part of the $1 million contract.

The structure, whose prewar motif is designed to complement surrounding-area architecture, will be built on property currently occupied by a small parking lot, playground, and soon-to-be-relocated basketball court.

In addition, Oldcastle Precast Building Systems landed a contract for nearly 57,000 sq. ft. of precast hollowcore plank for floor and roof systems of a second Harlem project, Erbograph Apartments, that will provide sustainable, affordable housing for low-income seniors. Hollowcore plank for the eight-story structure will support a green roof and outdoor terrace, contributing to target LEED silver certification. Oldcastle also will produce precast stairs and landings for the $24 million project.
