A contract awarded by Skanska USA to Finfrock Construction, Inc., for a parking structure at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Lake Nona, Fla., positions the design-builder to erect a five-story garage accommodating 900 cars and seven motorcycles. Key to winning the contract was Finfrock’s cost-efficient design, allowing construction within budgetary constraints, yet well suited to the project footprint. Moreover, Finfrock worked with the hospital’s architect and construction manager Skanska to ensure a garage design complementary to the 620,000-sq.-ft. hospital currently under construction. Precast concrete, including colored exterior structural panels, will be supplied by Orlando-based Finfrock Industries for the project, expected to wrap up in summer of 2010.
Finfrock landed an additional Sunshine State contract with Downtown Dania Beach Development LLC for design and construction of a 440-car garage for Dania Beach City Hall. Precast/prestressed concrete for the four-story structure will be provided by Finfrock, which currently is constructing another garage in Dania Beach for the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority. The City Hall parking structure is scheduled for completion in late-2010.
