Settlements upward of $59 million will cover full payment of overcharges ready mixed concrete customers incurred from what the federal government claimed was a price-fixing conspiracy Indianapolis market producers effected during 2000-2004. Cohen & Malad managing partner Irwin Levin notes that the settlements–approved or under review in U.S. District Court–are among the largest in Indiana history for a class action of this kind. Litigation leading to the settlements arose out of felony cases resulting from a Department of Justice Antitrust Division investigation in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana.
