PCI has issued a Call for Entries for its 2010 Design Awards competition. Now in its 48th year, the awards program honors outstanding projects to demonstrate how precast, prestressed concrete components are used to build aesthetically pleasing structures efficiently and cost effectively. All entries must be submitted electronically by a deadline of May 21.
Eligible for the competition is any structure in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico constructed within the last three years primarily with plant-produced precast, prestressed concrete; glass-fiber-reinforced concrete; and/or architectural precast. Entry categories include Commercial Structures, Industrial Facilities, Housing, Specialized Structures, and Transportation Facilities, including bridges. Recognizing excellence in design, engineering, production and erection, separate juries of industry experts will evaluate buildings, bridges, and special-category projects on the basis of creativity and ingenuity in the use of precast to achieve aesthetic expression, function, economy, and sustainability. More information can be obtained by contacting Jennifer Peters, 312/583-6780, [email protected], or Brian Miller, P.E., LEED AP, 312/360-3216, [email protected].
