Designed after extensive RMCAO consultations with major road builders in Canada, an online version of the CANPav software-modeling tool determines the cost advantages of using concrete as the material of choice for municipal streets and roads and commercial parking lots.
CANPav allows users complete control over the concrete and asphalt cross sections and the material cost inputs that will be used for street or parking lot estimates. It performs concrete paving cost comparisons that can be saved as PDFs or printed, saves on estimating time and materials costs, and applies estimates to all projects. CANPav also allows online access to StreetPave software program for concrete roads and considers future maintenance cost effects.
The tool has been created for use throughout Canada and currently includes default cost values for Ontario and Quebec; they can be replaced so municipalities across the provinces can benefit.Once logged onto the CANPav website, a user has the ability to conduct numerous what if scenarios, comparing the initial construction costs of both concrete and asphalt pavement. Information on concrete roads and their sustainability benefits can be found on both the CAC and RMCAO websites, www.cement.ca and www.rmcao.org.
