Aiming to eclipse the 2009 auction take of about $300,000, Concrete Industry Management Program National Steering Committee program supporters have already began the push for next year’s event, Feb. 4 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Staged amid 2010 World of Concrete, the fifth annual event will continue funding of a business-intensive program that awards students with a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Concrete Industry Management.

In addition to the traditional auction items, a silent auction will take place in the convention center’s North Hall, with money raised from both benefitting the CIM National Steering Committee and CIM programs at Middle Tennessee State University, Arizona State University, California State University-Chico, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Texas State University.

To date, big-ticket items for auction include a McNeilus mixer, cement loads from Holcim and Lafarge, and a Command Alkon batch panel system. Other items available through silent and live auctions are concrete saws, drills, vibrators, scaffolding, safety equipment, screeds, dust collector, decorative concrete tools, pumps, training sessions, reference books, computers, sports memorabilia, sports travel and golf school packages, and vacation travel packages. Inquiries or commitments on donations can be directed to CIM Steering Committee member Wally Johnson, 713/499-6229, [email protected].
