ASTM has begun offering the recently finalized C1701/C1701MÒ09 Standard Test Method for Infiltration Rate of In Place Pervious Concrete online, following the 2008 release of ASTM C1688 Standard Test Method for Density and Void Content of Freshly Mixed Pervious Concrete. Both documents justify increased confidence in specifying pervious concrete pavement. C17801/C1701MÒ09 was drafted by the Field Permeability Task Group of the ASTM C09.49 Pervious Concrete Subcommittee, chaired by NRMCA Managing Director Karthik Obla. Development of additional test methods continues under six subcommittee task groups: Fresh Concrete Density (Unit Weight) and Yield; Field Permeability (Infiltration Rate); Hardened Concrete Density and Porosity; Compressive Strength; Flexural Strength; and, Surface Durability.
