Alleging operation of overhead cranes beyond their rated load capacity, and models lacking safety devices to prevent automatic, post-power failure restart, OSHA has proposed $65,800 in penalties for precast/prestressed concrete producer Schuylkill Products Inc., Cressona, Pa. The agency cited willful and serious violations following a March 2009 investigation during which Wilkes-Barre, Pa., area office staff observed the company’s handling of 60Ò100 ton loads and noted failure to perform annual crane inspections.
