On the heels of Volvo Trucks North America’s first production model (a Volvo VN highway tractor) bearing engine and exhaust systems compliant with Environmental Protection Agency 2010 guidelines, Mack Trucks is gearing up assembly of similarly equipped Granite series trucks. The manufacturer reports that its Macungie, Pa., assembly operations are on schedule to produce Granite and TerraPro models with EPA Ì10 emissions reduction systems. Mack and Volvo are using selective catalytic reduction (SCR) exhaust aftertreatment to meet the agency’s near-zero emissions standards for next year. Mack first showed its SCR configuration in February at the World of Concrete 2009.
