Second Opportunity Holding, LLC has acquired the assets of longtime decorative concrete purveyor Bomanite Corp., noting the transition means: business as usual for licensed contractors, a new designation for former franchise partners; a shift from centralized to more regional production of pigments, surface hardeners and other materials used in company flatwork and countertop designs; and, a slight rebranding to The Bomanite Company. The transaction includes trademarks, service marks, license agreements, marketing materials, product formulations, and other intellectual property. QC Construction Products, a separate Bomanite Corp.-backed decorative concrete supply business for producers and contractors, is not part of the asset sale.

Bomanite Co. will maintain marketing functions and headquarters in California, and technical services in Denver. It serves U.S. and Canadian building and landscape architects, engineers, general contractors, developers and interior designers through 125 company trained and licensed contractors–specialists in decorative flatwork, concrete countertops, or both lines. To switch from producing supplies in-house or through limited outsourcing, Second Opportunity officials are enlisting strategically located, regional toll blenders. The move aims to minimize distances from blending plant to job sites, offering freight economy plus improved environmental perceptions among green-building customers mindful of product transportation.

Founded in the late 1950s, Bomanite became synonymous with premium flatwork, building a global network of contractors specializing in colored, stained, or pattern-stamped slabs. In the past decade, the company expanded design offerings and related formwork, mix coloring and surface treatments to concrete countertops. Beyond the U.S. and Canada, Bomanite has licensed contractors in 60-plus countries.
