National Ready Mixed Concrete Association honored the Tennessee Concrete Association (TCA) as 2008 State Association of the Year in recognition of contributions
National Ready Mixed Concrete Association honored the Tennessee Concrete Association (TCA) as 2008 State Association of the Year in recognition of contributions to industry research, education, advocacy and promotion. The award was presented to TCA Executive Director Alan Sparkman at the 2009 NRMCA Annual Convention in Orlando.
Recent TCA accomplishments include:
- Recipient of the 5th Annual Trade Association Environmental Stewardship Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for exemplary industry leadership and performance in resource utilization and pollution control and prevention;
- Twelve pervious pavement installation demonstrations conducted statewide, in addition to multiple sessions of NRMCA’s Pervious Contractor Certification program;
- Development of a new Web site targeting concrete users, providing fundamental information and a directory highlighting contractors with certifications and training.
NRMCA Construction Industry Alliances Committee Chairman Stephen Thomas of Consumers Concrete Corporation, Kalamazoo, Mich., notes that TCA was selected from a field of outstanding nominations. Fellow judge Elizabeth Boo Twohy of Capital Concrete in Norfolk, Va., echoes that sentiment: When you judge this competition, you are definitely choosing a Îbest of the bestÌ Û all of the entries were award-worthy.
