The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association has released its new Front-End Loader Safety Program, comprising a CD-based PowerPoint presentation and instructor notes. Also included are a pre-/post-shift inspections and a front-end loader training checklist, as well as a quiz and documentation form to help track personnel training.
That front-end loaders have been involved in several occupational deaths nationwide in 2008 highlights the importance of a checklist to help companies train new front-end loader operators, notes Steve Jones, NRMCA Safety Task Group chairman and director of Safety and Human Resources at Chandler Concrete Co., Burlington, N.C.
Adds NRMCA Senior Vice President of Operations and Compliance Gary Mullings, Accidents with front-end loaders damage the plant, mixer trucks and trucks delivering aggregate and cement.
