Owens Corning’s Cultured Stone and ProStone are the first precast veneers to attain the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center Green Approved Products seal. The designation indicates third-party documentation and approval that a product earns points toward a project’s National Green Building certification. In addition to the masonry veneer, Owens Corning blanket and board insulation products are Green Approved. “This seal streamlines and simplifies the process for builders, architects, designers and remodelers to use [our] products to earn points toward National Green Building certification, says Owens Corning Chief Sustainability Officer Frank OÌBrien-Bernini.

A joint NAHB and International Code Council effort, the National Green Building Standard was approved last year using American National Standards Institute ratings method protocol. An NAHB subsidiary located in Upper Marlboro, Md., the NAHB Research Center maintains the Green Approved seal alongside promotion of technology that improves homesÌ quality, durability, affordability and environmental performance. The Research Center has posted a scoring tool at www.nahbgreen.org where builders and remodelers can find accredited verifiers to inspect green projects.
