Key industry organizations will advance eight value propositions cast-in-place, masonry and precast building methods offer for sustainable development: resource efficiency, safety/protection, financial responsibility, operational continuity, longevity/durability, byproducts reduction, esthetics, and societal connectivity.
The points are outlined in a memorandum of understanding that will see PCA, American Concrete Institute, Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute, National Concrete Masonry Association, National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, and Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute align their sustainable development activities. The group will cover all concrete structuresÒÒvertical and horizontal applications, plus concrete products.
Announced April 24, the agreement sets a group goal of providing advocacy, technology, and educational resources to convey concrete structuresÌ social value. Today we are announcing a new way of thinking that will open channels of communications to involve and engage all industry segments, said PCA Vice Chairman and Sustainable Development Committee Chairman Aris Papadopoulos (Titan America). It’s a chance to bring together our diverse resources to focus on building sustainable housing, roads, schools and other structures.
This will allow the industry to leverage the particular strengths and expertise of each organization to pursue an integrated program on concrete structures, added NRMCA Chairman Henry Batten (Concrete Supply Co.).
