ABC, an outspoken proponent of merit shop construction, aims to educate the public about the sweeping economic and workplace consequences of the Employee Free Choice Act with the launch of www.TheTruthAboutEFCA.com. Loaded with onerous, anti-employer provisions, the card check legislation is a top priority of lawmakers beholden to organized labor and mindful of President Obama’s pro-EFCA stance.
The website will track card check-related public opinion data and news from mainstream media and social networking sites, while also providing a blog fed by ABC staff and guests. TheTruthAboutEFCA.com visitors also will see videos exposing EFCA’s threat to the U.S. economy and to employees’ rights to a federally supervised private ballot for union representation.
Recent studies show a devastating impact on the economy and likely loss of commercial and industrial construction jobs if EFCA is signed into law, according to 2009 ABC National Chairman Jerry Gorski (Gorski Engineering, Collegeville, Pa.) TheTruthAboutEFCA.com is part of a multi-faceted media campaign to shed light on the card check issue and expose misinformation EFCA supporters are spreading, he adds.
The website is sponsored by ABC’s issue advocacy arm, Free Enterprise Alliance.
