Aci Council Revisits Building Information Modeling, Sustainability

Members of the American Concrete Institute-affiliated Strategic Development Council will assemble Oct. 8-10 at the Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club in Palm

Members of the American Concrete Institute-affiliated Strategic Development Council will assemble Oct. 8-10 at the Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla., for semi-annual business sessions and separate meetings to review a final Self Consolidation Concrete Formwork Pressure research report, and receive updates on sustainability and Building Information Modeling initiatives. The widely subscribed BIM technology, which offers three-dimensional presentation of buildings and is streamlining project design and delivery, is rapidly supplanting two-dimensional CAD methods and involving major suppliers, including concrete and steel, earlier in construction.

SDC membership consists of concrete industry leaders aiming to identify critical technologies and issues that affect concrete interests, and effect appropriate strategies for efficient and effective transition. Registration for the SDC meeting can be completed at www.concreteSDC.org or by calling 800/456-2000. Non-council members wishing to attend the meeting as guests can contact Doug Sordyl, 248/848-3755.
