Foundation Engineering And Construction Congress On Track To Set New Record

The 2009 International Foundation Congress and Equipment Expo (IFCEE) will include the largest-ever foundation equipment and services exhibition

The 2009 International Foundation Congress and Equipment Expo (IFCEE) will include the largest-ever foundation equipment and services exhibition, asserts the International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC), cosponsor of the event with American Society of Civil Engineers’ Geo-Institute (G-I) and Pile Driving Contractors Association (PDCA). The Buena Vista Resort Hotel in Orlando, Fla., will be the site of the foundation engineering and construction conference on March 15-19, 2009.

According to Congress Chairman Mohamad Hussein, GRL Engineers, Inc., the IFCEE program will feature 50-plus 90-minute technical sessions, seven precongress Short Courses, Peck and Terzaghi Lectures, and a Student Geo Competition. Besides design engineering-oriented presentations, five construction-related sessions will be offered, addressing such topics as project management; contracts; risk management; safety director training; equipment maintenance; and hydraulics. Technical Tracks will highlight state-of-the-practice design, construction, and testing of every conceivable deep foundation and geo-support technology.

IFCEE’s targeted audience encompasses consulting engineers, specialty subcontractors, general contractors, department of transportation representatives, and academicians. PDCA and G-I annual meetings will be conducted during the event, and the three sponsoring organizations will present their respective industry awards.

Congress Proceedings Executive Editor Magued Iskander, Brooklyn Polytechnical Institute, expects 300-plus paper submissions. And, 150-plus anticipated outdoor and indoor exhibitors are projected to include an international array of major deep foundation and shoring equipment manufacturers and distributors. Additionally, numerous design, testing and materials providers will be on site. Participating as official supporters of the event are 15 Cooperating Organizations representing Canada, China, Japan, Russia, and Singapore, as well as nearly every U.S. foundation engineering and construction association.
