Demonstrating the viability of design by committee, DIY Network’s 4.2 million-plus on-line voters helped design the Blog Cabin in 2007, launching one of the most popular programming endeavors in the network’s history. This year, as Blog Cabin begins a second season with construction of a new cabin in Tennessee, Superior Walls has been asked to provide an energy-efficient foundation system for the residence.

This gives us the opportunity to showcase the value of an Xi wall panel system for reducing homeowners’ energy bills, says Superior Walls Director of Market Development Aaron Schoeneberger. The first episode of the Blog Cabin airing in August 2008 will show the precast foundation system’s fast installation and the value it adds to a home.

Xi wall panels are constructed with a concrete face shell, backed by 2_ inches of Dow extruded polystyrene insulation, he adds. In addition, the steel-reinforced concrete walls create a permanent barrier against sidewall water penetration, making the cabin dampproof.

The 2008 Blog Cabin show begins with public voting on line from January through April to select the cabin style and many of its feature products. Beginning this month, construction of the lakeside cabin will be filmed for a 13-part TV show on DIY Network. A Blog Cabin Sweepstakes winner is selected at random after the final episode airs.
