Cleveland, Ohio-based Euclid Chemical Co. has acquired Santiago-based Productos Cave S.A., a manufacturer of high-performance restoration, waterproofing and concrete admixture products for various sectors of the Chilean concrete and masonry construction industry. Terms were not disclosed.

Hendrickson Truck Systems Group has named Jeff Zawacki general manager of the company’s Bumper and Trim business unit in Joliet, Ill. A 13-year Hendrickson veteran, Zawacki most recently served as director of marketing and engineering for bumper and trim since 2003, previously holding the post of manager, program management and business development for the truck group

Separately, Sean Coleman assumed the duties of director of marketing, in addition to overseeing program management for Hendrickson Truck Systems Group. He takes responsibility for division marketing and all program management initiatives. A 14-year veteran of Hendrickson, Coleman served as director of truck OEM sales for the past three years and has held posts of increasing responsibility, including truck senior marketing manager, district sales manager, trailer account manager and truck account manager.

In its 30th year of business, Forta Corp. has promoted Dan Biddle to vice president of sales and Jeff Lovett to vice president of operations. Both have been with the company for 25-plus years.

Lafarge North America Inc. recently announced commencement of an upgrade at its Joppa, Ill., cement plant, bringing annual production to a projected two million tons following completion of the $415 million modernization in 2010. An air permit for the project was issued by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency in mid-2007. The upgrade will enhance the plant’s environmental performance in terms of alternative fuels usage and emissions control, Lafarge officials note, as it contributes to the company’s overall cost-reduction initiative. A new kiln will use innovative processes, they add, allowing decreased imports to meet demand via high-efficiency, low-cost operations that also promote environmental sustainability.
