The Concrete Countertop Industry Conference (CCIC) planning committee is seeking presentations, ÎShow & Tells,Ì and exhibits for the third annual conference, CCCI 2008, Aug. 21-23, at the Sacramento (Calif.) Convention Center. Aiming to build on the momentum of previous shows, planners note that CCIC 2007 featured 11 in-depth seminars including a design seminar by Fu-Tung Cheng, mix design seminar by Jeff Girard, and a panel discussion featuring California craftsman Buddy Rhodes. Affirms event organizer Lane Mangum of The Concrete Countertop Institute, CCIC 2008 will offer longer, more intensive seminars on a wide variety of topics.

Show & Tell sessions were presented at CCIC 2007 by six attendees, who offered 15-minute presentations on specific projects, such as a fiber optic bar, a shower, and a fireplace. Mangum says, The Show & Tells were wildly, and unexpectedly, popular. This year there will be more Show & Tells throughout the conference. Anybody who has done a cool concrete countertop project has something to contribute.

Last year’s exhibits included concrete countertop mixes, pigments, admixtures, decorative aggregates, forming systems, diamond grinding tools, sealers and training programs. Any company coming out with a new product for concrete countertop making needs to be at this conference, Mangum contends.
