Bound by the usual one-week building window, a forthcoming “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” project will rest on an Oasis Foundation Wall System from Oldcastle Precast. “The ‘Extreme Makeover’ team can rely on added living space in the form of a finished basement constructed in one day, regardless of the weather,” says Oasis Sales Manager David Bruni. Oldcastle Precast will deliver the system by winter’s end, he adds, with the project anchoring an “Extreme Makeover” Sunday segment later this year on ABC.
The custom-made precast concrete foundation comes complete with foam insulation and paperless drywall, representing a finished basement upon installation. Custom-designed with openings for doors, windows, and beam pockets, the system offers much tighter tolerances, and therefore, no leaks. Available throughout the New England market, the Oasis Foundation consists of high-density concrete formulated as a green sustainable design that resists moisture and prevents water penetration. The result is a drier, mold-free and more comfortable living environment, with an R-10 insulation rating equating to a 10-15 percent reduction in energy loss.
