The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Building Code and Sustainability Committee has finalized model building code and green building ordinances

The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Building Code and Sustainability Committee has finalized model building code and green building ordinances that local groups can use in their respective states and municipal government affairs work. One ordinance proposes mandating LEED for commercial construction; the other targets adoption of the International Code Council family of codes for commercial construction. Special attention was given to providing a tax benefit for adopting green building rating systems wherever possible. The model ordinances can be downloaded from NRMCA’s web site at www.nrmca.org/Codes/ModelCode.asp.

The Building Codes and Sustainability Committee was established in 2007 to coordinate related NRMCA standards activities. It works with other NRMCA committees, state affiliates, and national allies to support and promulgate the adoption of building codes and sustainability standards where none exist and helps develop and support amendments to local and national codes.
