National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and Portland Cement Association continue to team with Land Development Today magazine to offer Pervious Concrete: A Stormwater Solution. Over the last 18 months, the seminar was held in 19 cities nationwide. The 2008 seminar schedule includes eight cities: Feb. 11 Û Little Rock, Ark.; Feb. 18 Û Charlotte, N.C.; Mar. 17 Û Louisville, Ky.; Mar. 19 Û Springfield, Mo.; Apr. 14 Û Hartford, Conn.; Apr. 21 Û Omaha, Neb.; Apr. 24 Û Nashville, Tenn.; and, May 1 Û Philadelphia, Pa.

Pervious Concrete: A Stormwater Solution provides detailed instruction on how to implement pervious concrete pavements as a means to reduce stormwater runoff from building sites and other paved areas. Attendees learn the features of pervious concrete pavement systems, engineering properties, and construction techniques. The course helps civil engineers, architects, landscape architects, and public works officials formulate project specifications for pervious concrete pavement systems. Also benefitting from the seminar are contractors, product suppliers, and land developers.

Two presenters from the following pool of instructors host each seminar:

  • Bruce Ferguson Û Franklin Professor of Landscape Architecture, University of Georgia
  • Heather Brown Û director and assistant professor, Concrete Industry Management, Middle Tennessee State University
  • Lionel Lemay Û senior vice president, technical resources, NRMCA
  • Paul Tennis Û cement and concrete materials consultant
  • Erin Ashley Û director of codes and sustainability, NRMCA

Architects and engineers earn six Professional Development Hours upon completion of the program. The seminar is registered with the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education Systems. Registration can be completed online at www.ldbreakthroughs.com, or by contacting Futurus Communications toll-free at 888/388-8787. The seminar fee is $295.
