A late-fall Field Day hosted by St. Louis-based Kirchner Block & Brick at the College School of Webster Groves (Mo.) featured instructional demonstrations of the producer’s permeable pavement system and Eco-Stone product line. Twice during the event, Kirchner released over 250 gallons of water onto the school’s parking lot to demonstrate the effective stormwater infiltration provided by Eco-Stone permeable concrete pavers.
Incorporated into Phase 1 and 2 of the $10 million College School renovation project is a permeable interlocking concrete pavement system supplied by masonry market leader Kirchner, the local Eco-Stone distributor. Permeable pavers are key to achieving an overall goal of implementing low-impact, energy- and water-efficient design and construction for the project.
Attendees at the Field Day event included municipal, community and corporate engineering and design representatives. Kirchner’s system was recently approved for use by MSD in St. Louis, thus providing a solution to meet current EPA regulations for stormwater management.
