Continuing to stake greater claim to the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic markets, Hanson Pipe has absorbed Carolina Precast Concrete Inc., Dunn, N.C., and East Tennessee Precast, Lenoir City. Serving the Carolinas and Virginia, the former company produces precast storm drainage and sanitary sewer system structures, along with culverts, utility enclosures, wells, tanks and piers.

“Adding a well-known and respected company like Carolina Precast is consistent with our growth initiatives and complements our existing location in Oakboro, N.C.,” says Eric Wheeler, president of the 27-plant Hanson Pipe Northeast region, under which the Dunn plant will operate. “By acquiring Carolina Precast, Hanson is introduced to a new geographic area for precast and is able to offer customers a full range of products.”

In neighboring Tennessee, Hanson Pipe has established a new distribution channel through East Tennessee Precast, a nine-year-old sanitary sewer and storm water structures producer with payroll of 50. The deal represents “a great opportunity to enter Knoxville, which is a natural geographic extension from our current western Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina markets,” says Hanson Southeast Region President Joan Blecha. The East Tennessee Precast business is the latest addition to her region, based in Green Cove Springs, Fla.
