New Facility Expands Hanson Pipe’s East Texas Operations, Market Reach

A new, 60,000-sq.-ft. Hanson Pipe & Precast facility in Longview, Texas, will use innovative technology to produce concrete box culverts and precast components for the growing Longview and Tyler communities. Fully operational this month after completion of testing phases, the plant hosted a grand opening event June 5 benefiting the Harvest Festival and Livestock Show Scholarship Program.

Employing approximately 18, the new facility under the management of Ronnie McKinney will add product lines and triple production capacity. Among technology supporting that development is a three-station rotary turntable Hawkeye PipePlusPlus Machine, including modules that create varying diameters of pipe simultaneously. For box products, a three-station Hawkeye Auto Feeder is designed to charge three 144-in.-capacity production stations, producing box culvert and pipe of diameters greater than 72 inches in three different sizes ranging from four to 10 feet in length. Wetcast products including Safety End Treatments, manhole risers and cones also will be fabricated at the new plant.

Hanson’s storm water control projects for the Target Center, Longview Town Center, and Tyler Broadway Square reflect growing infrastructure needs in Longview and the surrounding area due to a surge in commercial construction. That trend was confirmed recently as Longview was voted one of the top 50 U.S. cities for business expansion by Expansion Management.

Longview is part of Hanson’s South Central region based in Grand Prairie, Texas. Serving Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas, the region’s 31 facilities fabricate products used for community and roadway development, including reinforced concrete pipe, drainage structures, modular bridges, and pressure pipe.
