Waukesha, Wis.-based Spancrete Group, Inc., has introduced its ER Post Structural System, incorporating precast trusses to provide column-free spans and increased construction flexibility for multi-unit housing and commercial developments. In contrast to conventional building systems that require support columns and beams on every level, product developers note, the ER System enables alternate floors to remain column free. The resulting open spans, they emphasize, especially suit developments that require parking, residential and/or commercial space within a single structure.
Adds Spancrete President and CEO John Nagy, On top of the many benefits precast products offer, the truss system provides rapid, all-weather erection and significant cost savings due to efficient framing and fewer pieces. Moreover, he explains, Other trades can start roughing in much earlier than usual, which provides additional time and cost efficiencies.
Given the economy and unlimited range of floor layout plans permitted by the new truss system, the producer anticipates multifamily housing, office and commercial space, university housing and hotel applications. Currently under construction using the ER Post Structural System are two large Midwest developments: Staybridge Suites, a hotel, residential and retail development in downtown Milwaukee; and, Whiteco Residential, a residential and retail project in suburban Chicago.
