Npca Achieves Fdot Training Approval

The National Precast Concrete Association was recently named an accredited training provider for state quality control inspectors of precast drainage structures and box culvert by the Florida Department of Transportation. The designation entitles NPCA to conduct quality assurance training for all Florida personnel involved in testing and inspecting these precast product lines. That distinction follows the adoption of new FDOT guidelines requiring precast producers to complete agency-approved training to be considered for all state bid projects. The new guidelines take effect June 2007.

NPCA conducted a special FDOT module training late last month in Orlando to ensure compliance among the region’s precasters. Besides conducting its flagship Production and Quality School (PQS I), the association offered the recently established PQS Level II-Technical session and a special FDOT module that meets the newly adopted requirements. More information about the NPCA Technical Education series can be obtained by contacting Kathy Shelton at 317/571-9500, or visiting www.precast.org.
