Recognizing the need to expedite product standards and practice guidelines, the Executive Subcommittee of ASTM Committee C 09 on Concrete and Aggregates

Recognizing the need to expedite product standards and practice guidelines, the Executive Subcommittee of ASTM Committee C 09 on Concrete and Aggregates has approved Pervious Concrete Subcommittee (C 09.49) formation, nominating National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Senior Director of Materials Engineering and Research Karthik Obla as chair. Following a widely subscribed exploratory session during ASTM’s December 2006 committee meetings, Subcommittee C09.49 will have its first official gathering June 24 amid the ASTM C 09 Committee week in Norfolk, Va. Concurrent with ASTM activity, NRMCA and Portland Cement Association have teamed with Land Development Today magazine to offer a seminar, Pervious Concrete – A Stormwater Solution, in Phoenix, February 20; Austin, Texas, February 22; Seattle, March 13; and, Kansas City, Mo., March 15. It provides engineers, building and landscape architects, and public works officials detailed instruction on implementing pervious concrete pavements to reduce building site and paved area stormwater runoff. Architects and engineers will earn six Professional Development Hours upon completion of the AIA Continuing Education Systems-registered program.
