The International Concrete Conference and Exhibition 2007 will immediately follow the Federation Internationale du Beton’s Master Course on the Design of Precast Concrete Building Structures, offering delegates what organizers note is exposure to key aspects in product specification, manufacturing, and application. The events run February 12-15 at the International Convention Centre in Cape Town, South Africa. Presentations from experts around the world will cover concrete technology; design, production and application of self consolidating, fiber-reinforced and high performance mixes; durability; recycled aggregate mixes; and, concrete solutions for building, transportation and environmental applications.
ICCX will have what organizers assert is the country’s biggest exhibition of concrete technology and largest concrete conference to date. The scope of the conference will provide a valuable source of knowledge for the local and international industries, they add.
The events coincide with a building boom in South Africa projected to last through the next 10 years, with some work tied to the country’s hosting of World Cup 2010. Concrete production facilities are reportedly running at full capacity, and new plants are cropping up across the nation. The FIB program will be February 12-13, followed by the two-day ICCX, whose trade exhibit schedule will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.
