Dubbed by its manufacturer the Problem Solver, the Maxam bearing is said to offer rugged reliability for applications demanding performance in harsh environments. Materials comprising the bearings are subjected to a patented metallurgical treatment that provides high-performance properties, including:
- A hard, ceramic-like surface that is highly wear-resistant, even under extreme loads
- Bearing surfaces that slide easily, even in conditions of marginal lubrication
- High-temperature performance Û 650_F (standard material), 1,000_F (hi-temperature material)
The Maxam bearing is available in three basic configurations: two-piece or three-piece plain, spherical, and full-complement cylindrical. Solid construction absorbs shock loads without cracking or spalling; and, a wide, continuous load zone on outer and inner bearing surfaces virtually eliminates spalling or galling, product engineers contend. Accordingly, they add, Maxam bearings typically provide twice the radial load capacity of ball and roller versions. Industry-standard product numbering enables fast ordering, while the standard line includes popular sizes and configurations, readily available for drop in replacement in assemblies or housings. A wide range of features includes grease channels, flanges, rings, standard and stainless materials.
