The TS 800 Cutquik reportedly harnesses the power of a 6.7-bhp, 98.5-cc stratified charge engine and sports a 16-in. wheel to cut deep. Due to the TS 800’s five-point, dual-element, anti-vibration system, the engine’s 9,000 rpm does not create uncomfortable, fatiguing vibration, product engineers note. At 28.7 lb., they add, the newest cut-off machine puts heavyweight performance in a lightweight package and, with a specially designed cart, can do the work of a larger, heavier walk behind machine. Like the TS 700, the TS 800 features an X2 long-term air filtration system that maintains air flow with 99.96 percent cleaning efficiency. Stihl Inc.

FLEET MAINTENANCE SOFTWARE
Providing what product developers describe as intuitive, comprehensive fleet and equipment maintenance management, Dossier Maintenance Software, Version 4.3 incorporates the following new, customer-driven features and options:
Minimum data entry Û The Repair Order and Invoice Data Import feature brings invoice data directly into Dossier’s database from a vendor’s electronic file. It automatically updates repair-order histories, equipment odometer readings, parts and labor costs, and cost per mile or hour. The RO and Invoice Data Import feature also updates vendor transaction files and individual equipment preventive maintenance service schedules. Repair Order Templates can be predefined or created on-the-fly by saving any repair order as a template for future use.
Customer management Û For shops serving outside customers as well as their own fleets, a Customer Management module allows separate handling of customer contact and billing information with individual labor rates and parts markups. Managers can generate quotes on request, automatically convert them to repair orders, and track them as customer invoices.
Forecasting Û Program forecasts and projects the need for preventive maintenance and inspection services by future date range based on each vehicle’s past operational performance of those services.
Broadcasting Û The new broadcasting of work pending feature, manufacturer’s recalls, service bulletins, maintenance campaigns and other fleet issues can be transmitted to many units with a single entry, eliminating repetitive data entry and equipment missed or overlooked.
Automated budget vs. actual expense reporting Û A new, automatic expense-tracking feature reports a fleet’s maintenance, fuel and administrative expenses and compares it to projected fleet operating budgets.
Equipment downtime tracking Û Collects and compares a unit’s out-of-service time compared to the company’s operating business hours to identify and document problem units along with averages. Equipment can be shown in order from most to the least downtime.
Total document recall Û Provides the ability to attach and recall a wide variety of documents, digital photos, diagrams and schematics, scanned files, web sites, and e-mail addresses to a company’s vehicles, components, parts and personnel files.
Daily reminder Û A virtual fleet assistant responsible for tracking day-to-day fleet status, this feature offers an overview of an entire fleet maintenance operation in real-time. Arsenault Associates
ELECTRIC SILO MIXER
For larger commercial and industrial jobs, 12- and 20-cu.-ft.-capacity models can be used inside when powered by electric motors. The 5-hp electric motors in one- and three-phase configurations allow for greater versatility and productivity for indoor work, the manufacturer notes. The mixers suit applications involving mortar, grout, plaster, fireproofing, and color additives. Company representatives affirm that the patented Powerblend system with heavy-duty Triple 8 mixing action consistently provides a smooth, uniform mix, even with larger-volume batches. Optional curved nickel-plated blades also have been added to facilitate color blending.
Though designed for silo applications, the SM1200 and SM2000 mixers can be used in standard applications where productivity needs warrant larger capacity units. The mixers include adjustable legs to facilitate leveling and positioning closer to the silo discharge chute. No outriggers are required. Additionally, bi-directional fork pockets allow the units to be picked and placed by a variety of lifts and forktrucks. Stone Construction Equipment
OSHKOSH S-SERIES MIXERS ARRIVE IN IRVING FLEET
Oshkosh Truck Corp. has delivered six S-Series front discharge mixers to Irving Ready Mix of Fort Wayne, Ind. Aluminum cab design and overall ergonomics prompted Irving’s decision to bring the first Oshkosh brand mixers into its fleet. The five-axle vehicles have 11-yd. drums; Cummins power; 50-gal. aluminum tanks; Oshkosh aluminum two-speed transfer cases; automotive-style integral heater; tilt/telescoping steering column; and, a National high back driver seat with armrest.
Founded in 1948, Irving Ready Mix was a pioneer and early developer of front discharge mixer trucks. Founder Jim Irving purchased the patent rights to a front discharge mixer design and began manufacturing the vehicles in the mid-1960s in partnership with area producers.
MACK’S ÎMV PREFERREDÌ ENHANCES PURCHASING
To assist dealers and their customers in managing parts and service purchases, Mack Trucks Inc. has introduced MV Preferred. Mack Vice President of Marketing Tom Kelly notes that the overall aim of the new purchasing program is to further automate the transaction process to enhance efficiency and accuracy, as well as ensure that customer-specified spending controls are achieved.
A key aspect of the MV Preferred program is automatic validation of purchase orders and invoices. Accuracy is thereby improved, the company asserts, and customers save time as they exercise maximum control over parts purchases and service transactions. Automatically ensuring that essential information is correct from the outset of a transaction, MV Preferred also streamlines back-office functions of reporting, invoice reconciliation and processing, and consolidation, Mack officials add.
The new system is being offered to fleets with 50 or more trucks, and no fee is required to participate. Customers can sign up for the program at their Mack dealer.
Every fleet that opts to enroll in MV Preferred is given a unique identification number, which is provided to the Mack dealer when ordering parts or service. The dealer then consults the customer’s profile online to ensure that the order process meets pre-established criteria Û confirming, for example, that the customer requires a purchase order or a purchase order number to buy a part. The order cannot be entered unless all of the customer-required information is included.
The program also verifies the correct price for all purchases. Every invoice provides a record of all transactions made against a customer’s account. Purchase activity and history can be checked online as well.
In addition, MV Preferred gives customers the ability to set parts or service spending limits for individual terminals. This information, entered into the fleet’s profile, is available to all Mack dealers in the program.
Partnering with Karmak Inc. and ADP Dealer Services to integrate MV Preferred into their management systems, Mack ensures that program validation is automatically available to dealers when entering parts or service transactions.
SHRINKAGE CRACKING CUT BY TWO-THIRDS
MCI Fibers are said by product developers to reduce concrete shrinkage cracking, while providing corrosion protection to rebar, galvanized steel or other embedded metals. The fibers were shown to reduce cracking in concrete by 66 percent when compared against fiber-free control specimens in recent tests performed by an independent lab in St. Paul, Minn. The polypropylene-based fibers are designed to shred when mixed into concrete, further reducing shrinkage cracking and aiding in the release of migratory corrosion inhibitor molecules.
Hydrophobic and resistant to concrete’s high pH, the fibers survive freeze-thaw cycles. The MCI molecules are attracted to embedded metal surfaces, diffusing into the concrete structure and forming a monomolecular layer that protects the metal from corrosive elements. The fibers are available in bulk or grenade form. One MCI fiber is 0.015 in. in diameter and 0.75 in. long. Grenades are a combination of the fibers and MCI Powder packaged in a ready-to-use, water-soluble bag that dissolves completely during mixing. Each grenade treats 0.5 yd. of concrete.
