The Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI), Phoenix, Ariz., announces the availability of the new sixth edition of its Post-Tensioning Manual. The first edition, published in 1972, provided the industry standard for design and construction of post-tensioned structures. Last updated in 1990, the manual was extensively revised and expanded for the sixth edition to include the growing uses of post-tensioning.

Providing basic post-tensioning information and essential principles, the manual also emphasizes advancements in post-tensioning technology over the last two decades. Accordingly, the manual contains 12 new chapters offering guidance on modern applications in addition to original chapters revised to reflect current practices. New topics include: seismic design; parking structures; bridges; storage structures; dynamic and fatigue; inspection and maintenance; post-tensioned concrete floors; slab-on-ground; stay cables; barrier cables; durability; and, field and plant certification.

The Post-Tensioning Manual has been compiled as a resource for engineers, architects, students, educators, contractors, inspectors, and building officials. Available for $112.50 ($78.50, PTI members) plus shipping, the publication can be ordered at the PTI web site, www.post-tensioning.org, or by contacting Theodore Neff, Executive Director, Post-Tensioning Institute, 8601 N.
