The Concrete Countertop Institute, Raleigh, N.C., has formed the Concrete Countertop Society to represent design and fabrication professionals aiming to hone their skills and grow the industry. The group’s stated mission is to apprise members of the latest concrete countertop technologies and resources as it sets the standard for quality and professionalism.

Membership in the Society includes unlimited access to the Concrete Connections website located at www.concretecountertops.org. Geared to contractors regardless of their training or favored methodology, Concrete Connections provides information about all aspects of precast and cast-in-place concrete countertop fabrication, including:

  • Articles discussing technical and business considerations in making concrete countertops
  • Tips and techniques designed to save time and money
  • Information about the latest products and technologies available for concrete countertops

A members-only discussion forum is moderated at the website by CCI President Jeffrey Girard, P.E.

CCI also has announced the first-ever conference for concrete countertop interests to be held November 6-7, 2006, in Raleigh. Geared to contractors interested in learning about resources available for concrete countertop fabrication, it will feature exhibitors promoting materials and tools, including bagged mixes, admixtures, pigments, grinders, and mixers. Admission to the conference includes nine seminars presented by industry experts on key topics ranging from getting started in concrete countertops to troubleshooting to a panel discussion of precast versus cast in place.
