The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute is changing the implementation process for its Certified Erector program, which had been scheduled to replace the present Qualified Erector program by year’s end. The deadline for Qualified Erectors to become Certified Erectors has been delayed until the end of 2007. The requirement that PCI-certified plants utilize Qualified or Certified Erectors remains; however, producers will receive a boost in their audit scores for following this requirement, rather than a downgrade for noncompliance. The procedures for conducting company audits under the Certified Erector program will be reviewed to assure that they pose no undue administrative burden, the institute notes.
